Psalm 27

Book 1: Psalm 1-41 God’s presence beside us

Title: A Psalm of David.

I. The confident praise of triumphant faith (1-6)

A. David felt peace in the presence of danger.

B. David felt peace in the presence of God.

II. The cautious petition of troubled faith (7-12)

A. Hear me when I cry.

B. Don’t forsake me when I seek for you.

C. Teach me to walk in righteous paths.

D. Don’t deliver me to my enemies.

III. The confident peace of triumphant faith.

A. David declares confidence in God’s goodness.

B. David admonishes confidence in God’s strength.

In Psalm 27, David describes both a triumphant faith and a troubled faith. I believe many, if not all, of God’s people can relate to both descriptions of faith. There are times when our faith is challenged and we cry out to God to hear us and not ignore our cries for help. These prayers are in themselves an expression of faith. It is here that we rest in the peace God promises to those who trust in Him.
