The account of Doeg is recorded in I Samuel 21-22. Doeg was an Edomite and a servant of Saul. He was in a position of authority and trust. He was eager to win Saul’s favor by lying about David’s intentions when David visited Ahimelech, the priest. He then slaughtered not only Ahimelech, but all the priests and their families. This was one of the darkest days in Israel’s history. Psalm 52 is a solemn reminder of the depravity of sinful man. It is also a shining example of God’s justice and His triumph over evil.
