Do you ever long for the “good old days?” In Psalm 44, the writer recalls a time when God worked great miracles on behalf of His people Israel. It was a time when He gave them great victories. Those memories stand in contrast to the present distress of Israel now. In the midst of their present distress, the psalmist defends the integrity of God’s people. They were not in rebellion or worshiping other gods. Rather, they humbly seek God’s mercy and deliverance. In times when we don’t understand why we face distress, let us simply seek Him.
