We all have experienced personal betrayal. It is a devastating and difficult wound. In Psalm 35, David recounts an experience of personal hardship when in stead of finding support and encouragement from his friends, he was mocked and attacked by them. It was then that he turned to the one who he knew he could count on. He turned to the Lord.

In times of great distress, our first source of comfort and encouragement ought to be from God. When friends or family rally round us to give aide and comfort, we are certainly grateful. In fact, they have done well, for we are called to be the hands and feet of our Savior to help those who are in need. Nevertheless, there is not one who will better meet our needs than God.
